    Dear Members and Friends,

Welcome to our June 2022 newsletter.

ALABC members, partners and stakeholders, both in Australia and Latin America, engage regularly to learn from each other by creating meaningful partnerships and sharing knowledge on how to best promote sustainability,  and encourage collaboration between government, industry, academia and local communities.

Over the years, ALABC has delivered a large number of webinars, workshops and symposiums, to provide government policymakers, industry decision makers as well as other relevant stakeholders with actionable recommendations to assist in the practical achievement of the sustainability goals and our members own targets.

At ALABC, we see this as our responsibility to share the best practice and provide opportunities for Australian organisations to share their knowledge and experience with Latin America.

Whether you are a member or not, you can help us to expand this knowledge and create a positive impact in our economies and in our communities.

    Best regards,

Chile’s Mining Minister promotes use of copper to fight covid-19

Chile’s Mining Minister Baldo Prokurica ordered that the building that houses his office be disinfected using quaternary ammonium enhanced with copper nanoparticles. This, in an effort to avoid the spread of covid-19.

Both on his Twitter channel and on local TV, Prokurica said that the solution being used was developed by Chilean company Aintech.

“For a long time we have been proposing the use of copper, a Chilean product that is a powerful antimicrobial agent, to back efforts to stop the spread of bacteria, viruses, and fungi in places like hospitals,” Prokurica said.

According to the minister, the copper-enhanced product that was spread in his headquarters prevents wood, fabric, and glass surfaces from becoming hosts for pathogens.

Given the properties of the substance, Prokurica said that he is proposing for it to be used in airports, bus stations and hospitals. In the case of healthcare centres, the government official said the solution can even be sprayed on protective personal equipment, such as surgical masks, to enhance their ability to avoid viruses and other elements from penetrating the fabric.

    December 2021 ALABC E-Newsletter

    Dear Members and Friends,

On behalf of the Board of Directors of ALABC, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our last newsletter of the year 2021 and send you our best wishes for the festive season and a happy new year 2022.

We had a very successful 2021 at ALABC as we were able to keep adding value to our members and fulfil our mission and vision, despite some adverse conditions due to the global health crisis.

We were extremely pleased with the support we have received from our members and sponsors, that kept renewing their commitment to the Latin American region. We are also very grateful to the Australian Federal Government and we feel very proud of our partnerships with Global Victoria, Trade and Investment Queensland and more recently with Investment NSW.
