AUSTRALIA-LATIN AMERICA AWARDS

Sponsored by:

The Australia-Latin America Business Council (ALABC) and the Council on Australia Latin America Relations (COALAR) established in 2002 the "Australia-Latin America Awards" to recognise outstanding contributions to the development of Australia's links with the Latin American region.

The Awards will be an annual event that will showcase the best performers in doing business with the Latin American markets and the persons that have had a significant impact on strengthening the relationship between Australia and these markets.

The Awards are overseen by a committee established by the two Councils and the presentation of the Awards will be made on Monday 1st December, 2008, at the ALABC Gala Dinner at the Tattersalls Club, Sydney.

 
AWARD CATEGORIES

Export

For those Australian exporters who exhibit superior export performance to Latin American destinations and:

  • demonstrate a company commitment to the Latin American market
  • demonstrate sustainability of the export product in the market
  • provide export growth in the market sector

Innovative or Emerging Export

For the Australian exporter who has introduced an innovative or emerging export initiative which:

  • has a high degree of innovation in the export market
  • has the potential for increased export growth and sustainability
  • illustrates a company commitment to the Latin American market

This Award is restricted to businesses that have been exporting for three years or less.

Journalism

For the journalist writing articles or producing documentaries in English about Australia - Latin America business issues from an Australian perspective, with material published or screened in Australia. The work must:

  • encourage relationships between Australia and Latin America
  • provide a picture of how business issues effects both Australia and Latin America
  • place appropriate context on the business issue
  • demonstrate a superior level of business issues reporting.

Language Education

For the Australian organisation which

  • exhibits a commitment to links in education with Latin American
  • has demonstrated educational and financial success in attracting students to its courses in Australia and/or Latin America and
  • supports and encourages business and educational links between Australia and Latin America through education.

Individual Recognition for Significant Contribution

For the individual, not necessarily Australian, who has made a significant contribution to developing relationships between Australia and Latin America and who for that contribution deserves particular and personal recognition.
