CSIRO has been selected by the Chilean Government to develop the International Centre of Excellence in collaboration with the University of Chile and several leading Chilean and multinational industry partners. Our selection is the result of several years of hard work from the Minerals Down Under Flagship team of Peter Lilly (former director), Tim McLennan, Warren Potma, Gail Fulton, Nigel Foster and their Chilean partners.

On Wednesday 18 May, in association with Austmine and the Austmine 2011 Conference & Exhibition held in Brisbane and supported by the Export Finance & Insurance Corporation (EFIC), the ALABC Distinguished Speaker Series - Chile and Peru was held. A sell out crowd of 70 guested joined Chile’s Ambassador to Australia HE Pedro Pablo Diaz Herrera and Peru’s Ambassador to Australia HE Luis Quesada for breakfast as they discussed the latest developments and opportunities in mining in Chile and Peru. On Thursday 5 May, ALABC was proud to host a market update and afternoon tea with Mr Alejandro Ossa, Commercial Attachè/Director PROEXPORT Asia from the Embassy of Colombia, where he discussed the latest political and economic developments, and the opportunities he sees for Australian exporters.
