CHILE'S breathtaking scenery dominated by the Andes - the world's longest continental mountain range - is fast becoming the focus of Australia's junior explorers.
The Australian THEY might be two mighty resource-rich countries competing on the world stage, but that doesn't mean there are not trade opportunities between Australia and Brazil, according to the Brazilian ambassador to Australia, Rubem Antonio Correa Barbosa.
Chile’s flag-carrier LAN announced that as of Wednesday it will cut Chile-South America fares as much as 40%. For years LAN has used what is known as the low-cost carrier model on its domestic flights, which has greatly reduced fares on its domestic flights and increased traffic.

About 400 delegates are expected for a two-day conference backed by Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd and including several mining leaders. The conference, to be called ''Latin America Downunder'', will be run in Sydney in May and modelled on successful talks held in Perth over the past decade to encourage Australian business links with Africa.

Uruguay has traditionally been positively distinguished in Latin America for its low corruption, strong democracy, open market and general stability, but the economy was stagnant. In the last decade, the country has corrected its weaknesses in governmental policies which, summed up to favorable external market conditions, have resulted in a constant increase of the economy at rates that have been among the highest in LATAM. However, the government has recognized that the country needs urgent investments in infrastructure in the upcoming years for the economic growth to continue at the current rates.

AUSTRALIA'S resources industry and support services must continue to globalise to overcome increasing concerns about the downfall of the local manufacturing industry to ensure domestic companies survive in an international market. Former Queensland premier Peter Beattie, who was appointed as Julia Gillard's new resources envoy in August, said Australia had to stop putting all its eggs in the Asian market and look further afield to emerging mining destinations such as South America.

(Negocios ProMexico Magazine, XII-2011/I-2012) 35 round tables and analysis and discussion workshops were held to exchange views on environmental topics. To support its actions to mitigate climate change, in conjunction with the private sector, Mexican federal government organized the 2011 Green Solutions expo in Mexico City, to encourage dialogue and promote business, investment and technological initiatives that help mitigate climate change.
