The Business Council's first event for 2012 was held on 24 February in Sydney and was a Special Luncheon with the Brazilian Ambassador, HE Rubem Antonio Correa Barbosa. Leading renewable energy company Pacific Hydro inaugurated its 111MW Chacayes run-of-river hydro power plant in Chile’s Alto Cachapoal Valley, approximately 120km south of Santiago, at a formal ceremony last night.

Three worthy winners were recognised last night for excellence in doing business in Latin America at the Australia- Latin America Business Council’s (ALABC) Annual Sydney Dinner. Chimu Adventures and Ausenco were winners of the 2011 Australia-Latin America Business Excellence Awards, as was Bernard Wheelahan, former Chairman of the Council on Australia Latin American Relations (COALAR), who received a special award.
