Three worthy winners were recognised last night for excellence in doing business in Latin America at the Australia- Latin America Business Council’s (ALABC) Annual Sydney Dinner. Chimu Adventures and Ausenco were winners of the 2011 Australia-Latin America Business Excellence Awards, as was Bernard Wheelahan, former Chairman of the Council on Australia Latin American Relations (COALAR), who received a special award.

A large contingent of ALABC members were visible among the 1,140 exhibitors at the Perú mining tradeshow Extemin and related technical conference Perumin which were held simultaneously in the southern city of Arequipa on 12-16 September 2011.
