Bachelor of Latin American Studies - Australia National University

Members of ALABC will be interested to learn of an initiative related to Latin America begun by the Australian National University (ANU). The Bachelor of Latin American Studies is a new, exciting degree for students interested in contemporary Latin America, its history, culture, politics and economic development.

Duratray Pink Tray Launch

On 23 March National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) ambassador Fiona Welsh launched a pink haul truck at Norwich Park Coal Mine near Dysart in Central Queensland, to remind the mine’s employees and their families to support breast cancer research.

The initiative was made possible thanks to the tripartite support of mine owner BMA Coal, mining contractor Downer Mining (who own the Caterpillar 793F truck), and manufacturer of the truck’s tray and Australia-Latin America Business Council (ALABC) member Duratray International.

Queensland appoints Senior Business Development Manager for Latin America

Trade and Investment Queensland has appointed Mr Martín Vega as the State’s new Senior Business Development Manager for Latin America, based in Santiago, Chile. 

30 Queensland companies already maintain a presence in Latin America, with many more interested in exporting to the region.

Australia’s leading environmental sciences university, Griffith University, held a Climate Change and Environmental Management Symposium in Mexico City on 29th and 30th of November. The Symposium was a joint initiative of Griffith University’s School of Environment in partnership with Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).
