Founded in Perth in 1966, at time of the development of the iron ore industry, Downing Teal quickly became involved  in recruitment for the engineers and constructors of the projects, followed by assignments for the operating companies. With success in Western Australia, new offices were opened around Australia, after which it was decided to expand our operations internationally.

South America was identified as the continent which had the best prospects for a growing minerals industry and we opened our office in Santiago, Chile in 2001. Ricardo Leon was appointed our General Manager at that time and he now manages the South America region, with additional offices in Lima and Bogota. 

We have a policy of recruiting as consultants, people with longstanding experience in the industries to which we consult. Our industry knowledge allows us to confidently short-list appropriate candidates for even the most technical of positions. Our international offices are all staffed by locals of the country, we do not employ expatriates in any of our offices, which gives us a truly local presence, with international capability and knowledge.
