Governments, their agencies and the private sector have started planning for the end of the pandemic, looking at how production and trade can resume and what form it would take. Current events have highlighted the need to plan for other major interruptions to the international supply chain and establish strong business continuity plans.  For Brazil, is very critical to keep the economy going so they can get people back to work, and get the economy back again as quickly as possible, but at the same time,  keeping people safe. This webinar will help Australian companies to plan for the bounce back in Brazil, in the next 3 to 6 months and for the foreseeable future.

Fernando Lohmann, Managing Director 

MACQUARIE INFRAESTRUCTURE AND REAL ASSETS

Fernando has extensive experience across the private and public sectors in Brazil, having worked locally in the strategic consulting, government and private equity industries. For several years prior to joining Macquarie, Fernando worked at Votorantim Cimentos, a global supplier of heavy building materials, where he served as Global Head of M&A and subsequently as Head of the Aggregates Business Unit (Brazil), a business unit with 21 production plants across 15 states, servicing infrastructure projects throughout Brazil. Through this experience, Fernando developed extensive relationships in both the private and public sectors in Brazil. He has significant experience both in managing acquisition and due diligence processes, operational day to day management of acquired assets as well as dealing with the development and operational issues relevant to the infrastructure sector, including licensing, land acquisition and community relations.

Fernando holds a Master of Public Policy from Duke University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Notre Dame.

Marcelo Bastos, Independent Non-Executive Director

Marcelo has more than 35 succesful years in the resource Industry.

Marcelo had served on the Executive Committee of MMG Limited from June 2011 to July 2017 in his capacity as the Chief Operating Officer, with responsibility for all Operations as well as Group Technical Services and Sales and Marketing. Mr Bastos also served as a director of a number of subsidiaries of the Company, including the Board of MMG and CITIC – JV owner of Las Bambas MMG is a Global Mining Company with Assets in 4 continents, significant producer of Copper, Zinc and Lead. It is a listed company in Hong Kong a major shareholder is China MinMetals, one of the largest trading companies in China. Prior to joining the Company, Marcelo was CEO of BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance – BMA from 2008 to 2011 and before that, President of BHP Billiton Nickel West from 2007 to 2008. He was also President of Cerro Matoso Nickel, a BHP Billiton company in Colombia, from 2004 to 2006. Mr Bastos commenced his career at Vale and worked with iron ore, gold and copper from 1985 to 2004. During his 19 years with Vale Marcelo has progressed from Maintenance Engineer to Manager and General Manager and finally Company Direct. He was General Manager of the largest mining complex of the company in Carajas and Director of the Copper business, delivering the first world class copper mining and logistics for the company. Marcelo has trained at the Columbia Business School and Kellogg School of Management in the United States, Cranfield Business School in the UK and INSEAD in France. He was a member of the Western Australia Chamber of Mines and Energy from 2007 to 2008 and was the Vice President of the Queensland Resources Council from 2008 to 2010, both in Australia. Mr Bastos was a non-executive director of Golding Contractors Pty Ltd in Queensland, Australia, from 2012 to 2013.

Golder Associates – Canadian major consulting, engineering company with more than 6,000 employees and worldwide presence – Member of Governance Committee. Since 2017

Aurizon Holdings – The largest Rail company in Australia, ASX 50. Chairman of Safety, Health and Environment Committee. Since 2017

AngloAmerican PLC – Listed in London and South Africa. One of the largest resource companies of the world. Since April 2019
